It’s First Friday Giveaway Time!

Happy November all! Did you know that November is Picture Book Month? I love this celebration for many reasons. I love me some picture books. I love holding picture books. I love reading picture books. I love the artistry of picture books. I love sharing picture books. (Yes, I could go on and on…) More importantly, as our lives continue to go digital, it’s important that we show our love for print books, especially picture books. It would be a real shame if the print versions of picture books were to go away.

So, what’s up for grabs this month? It’s the festive collection of seasonal books and pencils you see in the photo, along with a fresh pack of low-odor dry-erase markers. And yes, I know it’s November. :+) However by the time this giveaway is over and the goodies are shipped, many of you will be planning your December activities. (Honestly, I’m still on a sugar high from Halloween!)

To enter for a chance to win this month’s prize pack, simply leave your answer to the question below in the comment section before midnight on November 11, 2018.

What is one of your favorite picture books?

Thankful for you!

Diane

  1. For me any picture book was my favorite. I have dyslexia and did not learn to read until the 4th grade after extensive tutoring. I loved books and loved having them read to me. But when no one was around I would look at the pictures and make up my own stories. Reading is something I now love to share with all children.

  2. The Polar Express by Chris Van Allsburg has wonderful illustrations. I love reading it aloud to mixed age groups and comparing it to the movie version.

  3. Piggie Pie, Zoom Broom and Broom Mates by Margie Palatini. I love this trilogy of picture books. The students enjoy predicting what the inspiration was for her characters and finding all the hidden clues in the text and illustrations. There is something for all levels of readers in her books and this amusing collection is enjoyed by all my classes. One of the first things they ask at the beginning of the year is when are we going to read the Gritch books.

  4. My favorite picture books are any of the Bear series from Karma Wilson. I love the illustrations, the repeated verses, and the message of friendship they all share.

  5. Zero, One, and Two by Kathryn Otoshi. These are lovely books to use with students as they explore, and learn more about numbers.

  6. Loved reading Clumsy Duck by Britta Teckentrup to my preschool class. They were so focused and wanted me to read it again.

  7. Anything by Chris van Allsburg. I love the glossiness of the paper, the smell of the books and the depth of his illustrations!

  8. The Guardians of Childhood books (Man in Moon, Sandman, Jack Frost) and The Fantastic Flying Books of Me. Morris Lessmore for pictures, Llama, lama books for stories.
