A Very Special Day

What’s my favorite day of spring? That would be The Education Center’s Employee Appreciation Day! Each spring, the company sets aside a special day for its employees. It’s always loads of fun. We eat (and then we eat some more), there’s a prize drawing with several winning employees, and everyone gets to go home a few hours early. How grand is that? It’s so nice to feel appreciated! I thought you might enjoy seeing a few photos from our special event. After all, we consider you an important part of The Mailbox family too!

And on the same theme of feeling appreciated, remember that today is the final day to post a shout-out to a fellow colleague (see the blog post “Teachers Helping Teachers“). We’ll notify the winner of the two $20 gift certificates on Friday, May 21.

Happy viewing!

Diane

Update: Congratulations to Bette Vaughan, winner of our drawing!

  1. Dear Folks~

Thanks for all your hard work! Your products & support matter to me and my students. Since 2003, I have incorporated and use many things from Mailbox products throughout each school year. I appreciate the quality materials which “a line” well with the core curriculum. Thanks for making my years of teaching a little less challenging!

As many of you know, it’s quite challenging to teach in California these days. Up until last school term (2008-2009), I loved TEACHING! By losing our Science (a skilled Scientist), Computer, & PE teachers . . . all prep was taken away and in place we have to teach additional courses, teach more, salary reductions (14% w/in the last 2 years), and a probable class-size increase of ten more students for next year is quite a bit to contend with. Our teacher morale at our school site is pretty darn low . . . The worst of all it’s heartbreaking to see students not get the highest level of instruction they used to receive. For example, every class our Science Specialist taught were LABS (amazing and unheard of). in the midst of all this mess, teaching continues to enhance my life but . . . The fun has almost diminished! We’re tired! Okay, enough whining!

Bottom line, our support is immeasurable . . .I’d like to take this opportunity to simply say, “Great job & keep up the good work!!!!” All my students and I enjoy the materials I use from Mailbox. Kudos to all!!!!!

  2. On a personal note . . . It’s unfortunate but . . . as a teacher today, I feel I am simply filling in space. I don’t receive much praise from administration. We get one free box lunch a year from administration and one lovely luncheon from our PTA (the best). That’s it! I am not ungrateful. I am on filling empty. Oh! I should be saying, “At least I have a job!” That’s my 2 cents worth.

  3. Thanks for sharing your happy pictures. It’s great to see happy smiling faces!!!! It’s great to be recognized for all the hard work you do! Kudos again to all!

  4. I was glad to see the pictures and hear the details of your appreciation day.

I use your materials and ideas and I can’t imagine how I would teach if not for you. Thank you for all your hard work and imaginations. You touch the lifes of so many kids.

Thank you for everything you do.

  6. Mailbox Magazine is the most helpful resource available for the classroom teacher. I use and reuse your ideas every year. The only difficulty I find is choosing between the new idea and the old. I always recommend your magazine to new teachers. BRAVO to the staff at Mailbox.
