I wanted to be a secretary, now administrative assistant.
I wanted to be a physical therapist but my advisor in school told me it was impossible for women to get in.
I wanted to be an artist but my dad would not help pay for college if that was my career choice.
Well, my first career choice was being in the medical field and second choice was to be a teacher. I was fortunate enough to do both. I was in the medical field specializing in oncology for 15 years and then early childhood education for 13 years. I now teach preschoolers. In addition, I teach Spanish and music.
I honestly can’t imagine not teaching! Love it!

I would have probably been a librarian, because I LOVE books. I learned to read when I was 4 years old with Dr. Seuss books, and I credit Dr. Seuss (Theodor Seuss Geisel) with being the reason that I love books so much. He’s still my favorite author. My grandfather even knew how much I loved books. He left instructions for me to be given his collection of amazingly old books when he passed away, one gigantic Bible in the collection was 200 years old when I got it. I can’t even go to the grocery store without looking at the books they are selling. And, when I taught Remedial Reading, my love of reading was apparently contagious, because my students started bringing books they were reading at home to class to share with each other.
I have always wanted to be a teacher.
I wanted to be a veterinarian. But thought I would have a hard time falling in love with all the animals and bringing to many home. Now I fall in love with my students and spend way too much on them to make sure they experience the most I can give them.
