When you hear the phrase “You can’t catch me,” you envision a gingerbread cookie, right? It might be a cookie that’s all out pumping its plump little arms and legs; a cookie that’s chastising you; or a cookie that will soon lose an arm, leg, or head to your insatiable sweet tooth. I am right about this, aren’t I? Or does a vision of Leonardo DiCaprio racing through an airport come to mind? You see, during a recent game-night gathering, I was asked to name the main character to the movie You Can’t Catch Me! Well, who else could the main character be but the gingerbread man! Lo and behold, the movie title that was suppose to be given was “Catch Me If You Can!“—which is Leo’s film. After the groans subsided, it was politely suggested that only a teacher could come up with “the gingerbread man” as the answer!

Thank you I was looking for a classic to use with students this holiday season- Love your blog !!!
I use different versions of The Gingerbread Man throughout the school year!
I love pulling out all of my Gingerbread related lessons and activities every year right after our Thanksgiving break. The students get especially excited when they see Gingerbread books, decorations, and other goodies on our “Take a Look” Table … they know they’re in for lots of great TREATS while they are learning! Thanks so much for all the great resources!!!
One of my favorite themes I read every version to my kiddos
I always do a Gingerbread theme after we return from Christmas break. We compare several versions & then write our own story at the end of the week. My favorite experiment is when we put the Gingerbread in water to see why he/she/baby cannot just swim across the river.
One of my favorite holiday stories.
We are planning 2 weeks of guided reading lessons, interactive poetry, and math journals using different versions of the Gingerbread Characters. My kindergarten would be so excited to win the gingerbread package. It would enhance learning in our rural school. Thanks for all you do to support education.
My gingerbread collection keeps growing and growing…. I wish I had an entire month to spend with my half day Kindergarten students comparing, contrasting, counting and writing about all the different stories and versions I have! The Gingerbread Man, Kid, Girl sure can spark the students imaginations!!!!
LOVE the gingerbread theme! We are making Gingerbread Pirates this week and my students can’t get enough!
