That’s Dandy!

Today is National Weed Your Garden Day. When I was young, my parents had an extensive garden, and we were always plucking weeds that had sprouted up between the rows. It was not my favorite chore. (Today as close as I get to having a garden is a pot with a tomato plant.) We know now there are many weeds that are beneficial—for wildlife, insects, and for other plants in your garden. Here’s an article by Best Pick Reports that lists seven weeds you should keep. You’ll notice that number four is every child’s favorite: the dandelion!

Go here to print a FREE dandelion worksheet titled, “More Than a Weed.” This worksheet is a great way to spotlight reading text with a diagram. It’s also a good way to promote the usefulness of dandelions!
