Thanking School Volunteers

Volunteers are paid in six figures…S-M-I-L-E-S.

Let’s send out a gigantic group hug to every person who donates time to teachers and schools! And let’s tuck in a giant “thank you!” too. I mean, really, could a school function without volunteers? I’m not sure it could.

Since this week (April 15–21, 2012) is National Volunteer Week, please take a moment to share how volunteers impact the success of your school. Think about the folks who help out around the school as well as those folks who donate behind the scenes by tackling tasks at home and throughout the community.Oh, and if you have a favorite way of thanking your volunteers, please share that too!

Hooray for volunteers!

  1. I teach coop so I always have amazing volunteers. Through the years things have changed from just Mom to Dads, Grandparents and Aunts etc volunteering.
They do an amazing job. I quit doing a Mothers day tea when the economy failed and many Moms had to work and Dads were the ones coming. I changed to a family thank you tea so I could cover all of my amazing families.
The kids sing for them and I furnish a special snack made by the kids and we make a card and gift.
    Just love my amazing volunteers.

  2. I work at a school with lots of great parent volunteers. We are all very thankful for them. We usually have a volunteer brunch that they are all invited to. The teachers bring the food and the principal gives a thank you speech to them. I always struggle thinking of thank you gifts for them at the end of the year. The mailbox gives me ideas!! Thanks!! 🙂

  3. In our school district 1st – 5th grade receive enrichment classes (PE, ART, Music, etc). Kindergarten does not receive this so therefore we do not have planning time during the day unless we have help. For several years parents have stepped up and provided enrichment for our Kindergarten. For the past 3-4 years Megan Mills has coordinated this for us – her son is now in the 3rd grade and she continues to provide this for us. We are so grateful to her. She is awesome!!!!
