Teachers, Ice Cream, and a Giveaway!

Happy July, y’all! Since July is National Ice Cream Month, I’ve taken it upon myself to dig into the topic a bit. Wasn’t that thoughtful of me? It was a very yummy experience. Here are five things I learned:

  1. We have Ronald Reagan to thank for this sweet month-long celebration.
  2. It appears that vanilla remains the most popular ice cream flavor. (This blows my mind!)
  3. No one really knows how many different ice cream flavors there are. After all, ice cream flavors are only limited by the imagination!
  4. An ice cream maker can cost as much as an iPad!
  5. If you like, you can choose your mate based on ice cream compatibility. (I’m as serious as a banana split!)

What I did not discover is what ice cream flavors teachers prefer. And, of course, I’m curious! Aren’t you? Share your favorite ice cream flavor before July 10 and your name will be entered in a drawing for a very cool surprise from The Mailbox! How fun is that?

Smiles,
Diane

Congratulations to Jean! Her name was randomly selected as the winner of our giveaway!

  1. I used to love strawberry, when I was little it was very berry strawberry from Baskin Robins. Now that I am older, I have switched wagons and I like the the Banana Split ice cream by Blue Bell. Stay cool its in the triple digits in Tx.

  2. My favorite soft serve is and will always be twist and in regular ice cream my favorite is Chocolate Chip Mint with a scoop of Oreo Cookie.

  3. Any flavor with chocolate as the base. Stir in anything like: peanut butter, chocolate chips, rasberries etc…

  4. I love mint chocolate chip!

What I do is melt the ice cream a little bit in the microwave so it is more like that of Dairy Queen.
    It is yummy.

  5. My favorite is cheesecake with pieces of cookie dough added. Did you know you can buy vanilla ice cream with chunks of lobster in it if you are in Maine? I found that out from reading a book on ice cream facts to my first graders. Also the waffle cone was an accident. It happened at a county fair when they ran out of cups for ice cream but just so happened to be near a waffle maker.

  6. My favorite flavor is Old Fashioned Southern Butter Pecan….that is only available at Quality Dairy stores in the Lansing area. The pecans are toasted and so yummy! It’s a good thing that I live too far away to have it all of the time.

  7. My favorite is Peanut Buster Parfait (vanilla with chacolate fudge and nuts)from Dairy Queen, but if I had to pick a specific flavor I would go with mint chocolate chip.

  8. I’m eating “Lady Liberty” Mint – a Turkey Hill 125th anniversary special. Talk about yummy!

  9. O my goodness!! I can guarantee that there is anyone that loves ice cream more than me!! I eat it every day and have tried about every flavor I have access to at our grocery stores. It’s the only dessert I love and can’t pass up! I even worked at an ice cream shop while I student taught. Good thing I run marathons with my sweet tooth. My favorite flavor doesn’t come from the grocery store. It’s from Schwans (the truck). I LOVE the Raspberry Rumble. Best flavor ever!! 🙂 Sorry, so long, I just got a little excited. 🙂

  10. 1 vanilla bean
    2 double vanilla
    3 Madagascar vanilla
    4 vanilla

Jacqueline, I’ve never heard of New York vanilla ice cream, but now I want some!

  11. I love VANILLA three scoops with my frozen chocolate banana and all the extras (peanuts, lots! lots! of whip cream top with cherries and oreo cookie bits) along with a good book.

  12. Butter pecan is my true love! In 1970 I attended Miss State University for 2 years. They made their own ice cream. I fell in love with it then and remain true to it today. I have yet to find it as delicious as it was there and then.

  13. Chunky Monkey, vanilla, mint, strawberry, chocolate, oh… and so many other flavors! Ice cream is my favorite treat!

  14. Strawberry has been my ultimate favorite ice cream flavor for a super long time! I also love “cookies and cream”, too!!! When my mom wrote in my baby photo album, she mentioned how I arrived at the height of strawberry picking season. She even had cookies in the freezer for Vacation Bible School! (hmm? environmental influences as a baby to taste preferences????)

  15. I can’t believe that I am the 200th person to comment! Guess we know what topic gets us all energized! My favorite is homemade chocolate chip! Have fun eating everyone!
