Teacher Workdays

Every teacher knows that teacher workdays are seven days a week, right? So have you ever wondered why a day when students don’t attend school is called a Teacher Workday? It simply befuddles me. I think the term “Professional Development Day” is grand; however, it seems unlikely that this name applies to every No-School-for-Students Day. Now there’s a name that works. “Teachers-Only Day” seems to work too!

Well, I’ve sort of gotten off track. Imagine that? What I’m interested in knowing is what kinds of Teachers-Only Days are on your school calendar for this year? Please do tell!

Happily,
Diane

  1. Sadly I only get professional development days but oh how I would love to have a few days a year that I could just work in the classroom. I do have to say though I am given some prep and planning time just not enough of course.

  2. We are open through the entire year except for the holidays.Which is 7 holidays a year. Than your vacation which you can only take starting from May to the 3rd week of August. The new school year starts after Labor Day. I would love to have at least every other Friday to myself to work on the classroom weekly schedule. Thank goodness for “The Mailbox mangazines ” that I receive. They help me plan ahead. I am already working on Thanksgiving and Christmas activities.
    Thank you,
    Elizabeth
