Summer Learning

Hi y’all! I’m off to a dental appointment this morning. Joy! A Monday morning and a dental appointment. What was I thinking? 🙂

Now that you’ve had a few days or weeks to soak up a bit of summer, I’m wondering how many of you will be participating in some summer learning. Are any of you currently working on a master’s degree or enrolled in local in-service classes this summer? Or maybe you’re taking a class just for fun! Whatcha got goin’ on?

Smiles,
Diane

  1. I went to an “un-conference” EdCamp last week and got lots of ideas for some new activities for my 3rd graders, so I’m already getting excited about school starting again. Not too excited though, still have a whole pile of summer beach reads to tackle!

  2. I am going to a workshop and of course reading alot of professional things and of course reviewing my must have resource Mailbox magazine.

  3. I have workshops to attend in July and August. I have been keeping up with early childhood research and information via NIEER.org.

A recent family reunion trip to Western New York turned into a learning experience. I got to visit a childcare center in the town of Lima. The center is tied in with NY’s Universal PreK. Awesome!!!

    🙂

  4. I started a 5 day class for 3 Credits this morning. I did it last year and loved it! It’s low stress and full of great speakers!

  5. I work through the summer, so I continue to do what I always do…skim new and old Mailbox Year Books, scan websites and generally keep my eye out for that “next thing” that I can try out on my crew. I am also doing one course by correspondance.

  6. I and 2 others will be implementing daily 5, I’ve also researching on “meshing” daily 5 with readers’ workshop. I’m also attending the DI conference in Vegas.

  7. Watching webinars on DI, continue to research latest developments in Early Childhood Education. Finishing VBS at my parish this week.

Question for fellow EC teachers, what other research sites to you subscribe?

    Thanks

  8. I am about to head back to finish up a Masters in teaching with technology. I took a 2 month break to help out with my Dad and Grandmother. I have lots of conferences that I will be attending as well and I am tutoring one of my students. Just attended a great conference World View Christian Education. Changing grade levels so I am also busy preparing for that. No sleeping in this summer.

  9. I am taking a Daily Five Lesson Plans class which I am very excited about. I work in my classroom and I am always reading, reading, reading!!

  10. I just attended a two-day RtI conference. I plan to take a class to update my ACSI certificate. I want to take another class to earn more clock hours to keep my state certificate up-to-date.
Those are the gotta-do tasks. Fun things on my agenda are to plan out a year of science to enrich the curriculum.
A list of transitions to post on my wall for easy referral will help me manage the busy youngsters that I’ll have next year.
