Still Chuckling

Yesterday was a blur—a great day, just a busy one. After a full day at work, I made a mad dash to be at the veterinarian’s office by six o’clock. Then, with pooch in tow, I zipped into the grocery store and a neighborhood hardware store, gassed up the car, and headed home. Why am I telling you all this? Ha! Well, at about nine o’clock I glanced in the mirror. My first thought was, “I don’t remember this top having such an unusual neckline.” But that wasn’t it at all. All day long I’d been wearing my top backward! Yep, you read that right—backward! I’m sure I’m not alone here in making a fashion flub. Have you arrived at school only to find yourself in an embarrassing fashion situation? We could all use a good chuckle at the end of a busy week!

Your fashion diva,
Diane

  1. Oh yes! I have shown up more than once with the wrong color shoes and one day I wore two different color shoes. Some days I’m happy just to be dressed. Thanks for the morning laugh! I needed it today!

  2. I’ve had my most embarrassing moments in the dreams I have about school. I never showed up at school with a fashion oops in real life. Last night I had a dream that I was back in high school. I missed getting on the bus in the afternoon, which is odd because we didn’t have a school bus for the high school. I always remember in my dream that I have a car parked in the student parking lot, but when I try to find it, I realize that I forgot to drive it to school. I’m glad my oops were always in a dream. I could imagine a fashion problem in real life could be dramatic.

  3. if my memory serves me correctly,i think i have worn the top inside out and 2 socks that didn’t match.oh well…if you can’t beat them join them!

  4. I’ve done the same thing as Dawn. I wore 2 different shoes, and I’ve worn 2 different socks. At least I’ve always managed to have shoes on!
    My favorite day….pajama day!!!

  5. One of my most memorable fashion flubs occurred several years ago on picture day. Fridays are normally jeans and school T-shirt day at my school. That year picture day was on a Friday. I, of course, totally forgot. I am on the front row with my class wearing jeans, a sweatshirt, and my hair in a pony tail. Not a good look, but a memorable one.

  6. One day when I was late I ran for my tennis shoes. I realized later that I had 2 different ones on. No one said anything and I decided that since I teach preschool that I just looked like one of my students who had dressed themselves.
I was glad to see that I am not the only one.

  7. I’ve worn 2 different colored socks and worst of all no bra only once so embarrasing (had to wear a jacket the entire day) thank goodness it was a black shirt. I’m way too much in a hurry

  8. I don’t think I’ve ever had any fashion faux pas at school, but I have worn my name tag upside down for entire days. None of my students have ever pointed it out. I’ve always realized it on my own. It is surprising because kids are usually the most honest and are the first to point out when your hair is sticking up or you have something on your face.

  9. I share your embarrassment! I got to school one day and had two different shoes one. I wondered why my feet were hurting. LOL!

  10. More than once I’ve thrown on a new sweater only to take it off at the end of the day finding the price tag and extra button pouch still attached.

  11. Years ago, I was taken by ambulance to the hospital after an accident. I worried aloud about my underwear. The nurse said the undies passed, but I was wearing 2 different socks.

Worse yet, I went to an interview wearing a skirt, blouse, and vest. I didn’t realize until I came home that my vest was buttoned wrong! I did get the job, It was a SPED position!

  12. How funny! I remember once after a very busy day I went to a fabric store only to be told my top was on wrong side out! I feel your pain!!!

  13. I have done that!!! I also have walked out of my apartment still wearing my slippers. I didn’t have time to run back to change, so it’s a good thing I teach kindergarten!

  14. i am so glad you guys are so cool about your embarrassing moments one thing you guys have not mentioned is putting your shoes on backside

  15. Ha ha! I have “fashion faux pas” on a regular basis. I really have, and use, a mirror, but somehow arrive at school with sweaters in-side-out, mismatched earrings, blue shoes with black pants etc. It’s too bad our district won’t spring for a dresser to help me!

  16. HA HA I love this moments…the ones where you look around to see if anyone is looking at you…..I have had many wardrobe malfunctions….from wearing 2 different shoes to having my zipper down it is as bad as falling in front of a group of people or accidentally passing gas. It’s nice to know that I’m not alone in the wardrobe malfunctions!!!

  17. I run a home daycare center in my basement, and had taken laundry to the clothesline during nap time. A bra had been in the wash, so I left it in the basket right at the back door. That night after several parents had picked up, including 3 fathers, I noticed the bra in all its glory at the door for all to see.

  18. I have went to school several times without a slip or underwear. Not too bad when your the only one who knows. One day I went one step further, I wore my slip and NO skirt! Yes I did go home and get it!

  19. One day I had to leave extra early in the morning for a conference. I actually put my sunglasses on and walked outside and suddenly realized it was still dark outside. I’m glad nobody was there to witness me looking cool in my sunglasses.

  20. I just went to the eye doctor after school to pick up my new eyeglasses. I was informed that I have paint on my nose and my cheek and ear. Thank goodness, I didn’t flirt with passing cars that day. I can just imagine what other drivers were thinking.

  21. I once was told by another customer in a store that the front of my shirt still had on one of those long tapes with the size posted on it. Having worn it to lunch and then out shopping, I was quite embarassed.

  22. That is funny. That has happened to me before. Then you realize and wonder why no one told you…not even collegues.

  23. A couple of years ago I arrived to school realizing I wore two different sandles! It was to late for me to run home and switch, and I lived to far to make a quick trip anyway. You see, I get dressed in the dark as my husband sleeps later than I, so when I picked up the black pair that were the same heel height, I had no idea! I tried to remain quiet about it so know one would notice my fashion “mis-step!” I laughed about it then, and still chuckle about it now!

  24. I too have left size tags on shirts and worn mismatched shoes but the most unusual incident of inattention happened after church one morning. I direct the choir and wear a robe during services. You know that feeling when people seem to be looking at you strangely? No, I was not wearing the choir robe but I had left on the collar. I realized why others were giving me funny looks in the K-MART when I got home and went to change my clothes. I think of things like this when students do absent minded things.

  25. You can say that again. Am from West Africa to be precise Nigeria. i got to Church only to find out that that I had tied my wrapper inside out and the rest is best imagined. in between caring for children and rushing out not to be late things like these are bound to happen and thanks to the new trend of fashion we do get away with some fashion blunders.

  26. My sister and I lived together and I left in the morning about half an hour before she did. We each got a nice pair of knee high leather fashion boots. Yep, you guessed it. I arrived at school wearing one black boot (mine) and one brown boot (hers). As I changed into shoes for the day, I didn’t notice until it was time to put them on to go back home – the way I came, on the bus. So there I was, on that cold, blustery day, trudging through the snow to the bus stop without any boots – And, worse than that, in my embarassement I forgot to take the mismatched boots home, so neither of us had any boots to wear the next day either!

  27. Thank you so much! I can’t remember the last time I’ve won something. So many choices of prizes…how will I ever pick one? 🙂
