Sing a Song

When I was in the classroom, I taught a lot of concepts with songs and chants. Why? Because I can remember the songs I learned in third grade better than I can remember what I had for breakfast this morning. Songs and chants are valuable tools in the classroom. They engage students and increase retention of concepts. What’s wonderful is that your students don’t care if you’re a singer or not. They’re just happy to sing, questionable notes and all. For extra fun, add a tambourine. (That’s my motto for everything in life.)

Here’s a song that helps students with letter-sound association. Bonus: There are picture cards!

Check out this song that helps students remember the spelling of the tricky word because.
