Simple Tips!

Sometimes the best teacher tips use the simplest supplies—or no supplies at all! Check out my current favorite tips that you can implement in a jiffy.

remoteNeed to get students’ attention?
Do it with an invisible remote control (or a real one you don’t use anymore). Simply pantomime holding up a remote and say “click” as if you’re pressing a pause button. At this signal, students stop and freeze while you give them instructions. When you’re finished, “press” your pause button again for students to resume working!

cup

                            Too many interruptions?
Give each child a colorful plastic cup. If the student needs help, have her signal you by placing the cup on top of her desk. When there is a logical break in instruction, answer the student’s question.

  1. Love these ideas. I’m not so sure my group wouldn’t be singing the cup song and tapping the cups non-stop. I guess then it would be a privilege I could take away.
