Serving Up Math!

Thanksgiving is a holiday stuffed with real-world math skills. I don’t say this with great joy because math has never been my strong suit. It’s not my husband’s either, and we usually cook Thanksgiving together for multiple friends and family. Fortunately, the wrapping on my turkey has a chart telling me how many people it will feed based on poundage. But things get a little bit iffy when we make dressing, mashed potatoes, and cranberry relish, particularly since we fly by the seat of our pants and don’t follow recipes. As is the way with most Thanksgiving meals, we usually end up with way too much food anyway.

Serve up real-world math skills with this low-prep activity that has students multiplying recipes to feed a crowd for Thanksgiving!
