Reading Aloud

One of my favorite activities during the school day is reading aloud to students. I think it’s because I have such good memories of being read to and I want students to experience that as well. So of course I have favorite books to read aloud. I know you do too! One of my favorites is The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson. It has plenty of dialogue that makes reading the story extra fun! Plus children find it completely engaging. That mouse is one smart little rodent! Check below for an activity to do with your students after reading The Gruffalo.

What is your favorite book to read aloud in your classroom?

Which part of the Gruffalo is the scariest—the terrible tusks, the orange eyes, or the poisonous wart on the tip of its nose? Students give their opinions and organize the data with this activity! For older students, have them transform the data into a bar graph.
