Over the Hill?

Are you over the hill? My guess is yes, if the hill marks the halfway point of your school year. Most likely you’re carefully picking your path down the hill, searching for the best learning opportunities for your kiddos. You may also be looking for fresh classroom management ideas and timesaving tips for wrapping up the school year.

So let me have it! Leave a comment describing a discussion you’d like to find on this blog before the end of your school year. You can even rattle my bones about the “over the hill” comment if you like. 🙂

Eager to hear from you!

  1. Diane,

Some days I do feel over the hill! I’d love feedback on what teachers may do in regards to summer work or a summer newsletter to keep kids learning over the summer.

    Any ideas??

    Thanks!

  2. I so agree with Raemi. It’s difficult finding materials that will work well for all students. The struggling students need work at their level, yet many students need much more challenging work.

  3. We often give the kids copies of worksheets and ideas for activities to keep them learning over the summer and I always refer kids to the library summer programs.

I would love to know what actiivities other teachers do with their kids at the end of the year when all they really want to do is go outside.

  4. A post on year end celebrations/traditions would be neat. Do people do a little graduation ceremony, invite parents in a showcase, create some sort of class memory project etc?

I’d also be curious to know different schools’ policies on taking learning outside when the weather is nice. We were almost never allowed to do this, but I think it would be fantastic to take advantage of a beautiful day to have storytime, work on practice lessons etc outside under a tree.

  5. Great ideas! Thank you and stay tuned! We’ll have blog conversations on these end-of-the-school year topics soon.
