Birthday wishes to Honest Abe, our 16th president of the United States. I’ve decided Abe and I are kindred spirits of sorts. He was tall; I’m tall. He loved animals, and I do too. He didn’t like going to the dentist; neither do I. He loved to read. Ditto for me. Lincoln could wield an axe, and so can I. (No questions please.) And Abe was a bit of a jokester. Me too! 🙂 Of course, we have our differences. I do not wear nor stuff important papers inside a stovepipe hat, I do not sport a beard, and I’m not a good wrestler. And then there’s that president thing. I don’t see that happening either!
Why not be totally spontaneous today and, with your students’ help, spend a few minutes comparing yourself to Lincoln? Students are sure to learn (and remember!) some fun facts about this fascinating president!
Happily,
Diane

What a fun way to learn about our Presidents! Thanks for the tip!
