Odd Dreams?

bedphotoEven though I’ve been out of the classroom for a while, I still have teaching dreams. I know you know what I mean. I’m in my classroom, only it doesn’t really look like my classroom. The lesson plans and props for the day have disappeared, and the little ones are crying because there’s a kangaroo chewing on the bookcase. (Don’t even try to analyze this. Really.) I’m starting to panic when the director of the preschool walks in carrying a giant platter of spaghetti. I wake up wondering if I should go to therapy or, at the very least, stop eating peanut butter from the jar before I go to bed.

Kangaroos and spaghetti aside, I think that being a teacher is such a part of who I am that I’ll still be having dreams like this when I’m old and gray. Do you teach in your dreams?

Sincerely,

Sleepless and Confused in North Carolina

  1. LOL I don’t actually teach in my dreams because I’m either A) Freaking out because I can’t find any lesson plans and the kids are walking into the room or B) Trying frantically to make it to school on time and everything’s going wrong or C) Freaking out because the sub didn’t follow the lesson plans and I can’t tell what she did or if it’s done or even which one belongs to which student and the kids are walking into the room! I wake up before I actually get to teach. 🙂

  2. I sometimes dream that I forgot it’s a conference day and don’t even have my progress reports with me let alone ready.
