Make Some Space for STEAM, STEM, & Prizes!

Do you have a designated makerspace in your school or classroom? To be honest, the first time I saw the word makerspace, I had to investigate what it meant. What I found was, from the simple to the elaborate, these designated spaces promote STEAM and STEM learning with materials that encourage students to invent and create. So make some space—I have some resources for you!

Star StuffPost a comment to this blog no later than 11:59 pm EDT on July 31, 2016, to tell me which of the items below would help you in your classroom. From the comments, I’ll randomly select one teacher to win a CD/DVD/book set to encourage students to reach for the stars: Star Stuff—Carl Sagan and the Mysteries of the Cosmos.  (Update: congratulations to Melissa, who is the winner of our prize.)

  1. Have been just learning about Maker Space centered learning this summer, too. 🙂 Would love the STEAM student set to get started. My kids would absolutely love it! Thanks for an opportunity to win Carl Sagen’s book/CD set, AND for ALL you, at Mailbox, do!! 🙂

  2. I really like the STEAM student Kit. One of the things that has bothered me about STEM, is the hostility towards the Arts. I love that it is identified as STEAM, to include the arts, and thus make the STEM contents more relateable to students.

  3. Wow! What great resources for STEM and STEAM! Who WOULDN’T want to win that awesome book/DVD set? I know I would!! Thanks so much for helping teachers. I love receiving the mailbox blog in my inbox, I know I will always find great ideas and resources to make teaching/learning even better!!

  4. The STEAM Student Set would be ideal to use with my class. I would love having a new resource to help my students use their imagination and inventive skills

  5. This is the hardest choice on this blog in a while! I’m torn between the Makerspace and STEAM set. I think the STEAM set might be a close first, because there’s no way I could replicate or even emulate it. How exciting!

  6. Kindergarten students always lose their pencil or it is broken. I would love to win the pencil sharpener from x-acto. I teach in a title 1 school and supplies are usually bought out of my teacher pocket. Parents can not afford to send the needed supplies. Thank you for offering these contests and giveaways. May God Bless You! Melissa

  7. I entered the contest entered “Will you very ready to promote stem learning? I would love to be one of those lucky winners!

  8. I would love to get the X-acto prize pack. In my third grade classroom pencils are always breaking. It would be nice to have extra pencil sharpeners for my students to use.
