Magnetic Discovery

Hi, y’all! How’s your Thursday going so far? Terrifically, I hope! I’m feeling grand myself. I’ll give you three reasons why:

  1. The sun is shining! Sure, it’s cold outside, but who can complain about the temperature when the sun is shining?
  2. Today is payday. (Yippee for me!)
  3. Last evening I made a totally cool discovery!

So what is my cool discovery? Magnetic paint! Have you heard of it? I sure hadn’t. Don’t ask me how it works because I have no earthly idea. What I do know is that you can spray or paint it on just about any surface—wood, metal, plaster—and the surface becomes magnetic. You can even use it as a primer and paint over it, and the surface will still be magnetized! I’m in awe. Of course, you can’t use it around kiddos (yes, it’s stinky). However, you could certainly prepare a surface for student use. My mind is whirling with classroom possibilities!

Whatcha think? Could this product become a teacher’s best friend?

Happily,
Diane

  1. Wow! The possibilities of things like magnetic walls, cabinets, wood chairs are swirling around in my head. Where can you buy this paint? Lowes? Walmart? Is it expensive?

  2. I found the paint at a local craft store. A full-size spray can cost $10.00. However, I had a handy coupon for 40% off, so that helped a bunch. 🙂 My guess is that the paint is sold in a variety of places. Thanks for sharing my enthusiasm!!

  3. Oh wow. I have to buy some. I am thinking I could do one of my doors we rarely use it and put the magnet letters etc. You could also use it to put up posters if you glue on some magnet tape.
    Gotta love those 40% coupons.

  4. I painted over an chalkboard in the manipulative arein my classroom several years ago. The kids love seeing what’s new on the magnetic board.
