In a Spin

Today I have a quick question for y’all! What’s the scoop on spinners? Do you use spinners in your classroom? Is a spinner a tool your kiddos can easily use? Does incorporating a spinner into a lesson keep students more engaged?

Okay, clearly I have more than one question about spinners, don’t I? 🙂

Here’s your chance to tell me exactly what you think of this learning tool!

All ears!
Diane

PS: It would be fun to hear how y’all use spinners too!

  1. I utilize spinners in math as do most of us, however the topic makes me wonder if it might be appropriate to use them as ways of randomly calling on kids and such…more of a management tool.

  2. I use spinners with math and with other games. I think it would be great to have one with the kids names on it for turns.

  3. I don’t use spinners much at all. I prefer to have my students roll a die. The spinners I have just don’t work well. The spinners that don’t work take away from the learning experience. The students — as well as I — get frustrated.

  4. Kids love spinners and we use a lot of them in math!I love the idea of the name spinner to randomly call on children.

  5. We make a “More/Less” spinner and spin it after a game is played where there are teams/students with points. We spin the spinner. If “more” is spun then the team/student with the most gets the win. If less is spun, then the team/student with the least points wins. You never know who is going to win with this spinner!
