Hop To It!

April is National Frog Month. I’m not ribbiting you—it’s true! Check out these lesser-known frog facts and then leap into learning with a sampling of free frog-related activities found at themailbox.com. Last, but certainly not least, tell us if you’ll be investigating frogs this April!

Five Frog Facts

  • Each frog species has a unique croak. There are more 5,000 different species!
  • A frog’s sticky tongue is attached to the front of its mouth.
  • Frogs live on every continent except Antarctica.
  • Frogs use their eyes to help them swallow their food. (When a frog swallows its prey, it blinks, which pushes its eyeballs down on top of its mouth which helps push the food down its throat.)
  • Frogs don’t need to drink water because they absorb water through their skin.

  1. I found the frog in the picture. I must admit it took a while he blends right in with the lily pads. Thanks for all the great activities. The children always enjoy our frog theme.

  2. We continued work on Informational Text using Gail Gibbons, “Frogs” book and using a Mailbox craftivity to write important facts on the tongue of a frog. It was a hit with the kiddos because learning to pull facts from text is a rather tough lesson. Love The Mailbox!
