Holiday Cards?

One day last week, I received three very special holiday cards. One card was from my cat. One card was from my pooch. The third card was from my neighbors who, each year without fail, thoughtfully send along this trio of holiday greetings. These days, fewer and fewer of my friends and family members mail holiday cards. Cards can be expensive. Postage is expensive. A “Happy Holidays” Facebook post is certainly less expensive and much more time efficient. I guess I’m a touch old fashioned because I miss receiving the real deal, hold-in-your-hand, holiday cards. What about you? Do you enjoy sending and receiving holiday cards? Please share!

Merrily,

Diane

  1. I love receiving Christmas cards, particularly those that update me about my family and friends. I am terrible though about getting cards out as it is so busy and I am so tired before Christmas. I have started a tradition working on and sending out a “Christmas letter” after Christmas during my holiday break.

  2. I love to send out cards…yes, it is expensive but I love that extra touch of writing a note and addressing the envelope. It does takes longer but I get to think about fond memories of that person as I use the old fashioned way of writing with a pen. A plus for me is I usually do a doodle picture on the envelope to bring a smile to the recipient.

  3. I love to send and receive cards. The only problem is that as teachers, December is one of the busiest times of the year. I don’t have time to look for cards and write them out until Christmas break and by then it’s too late. So I have started a new tradition. I email New Years cards. I do then over the break! It’s a fun little twist and my friends seem to enjoy receiving them.
