Happy Presidents’ Day!

I have a confession to make on this Presidents’ Day. Last night, I tried to name our ten most recent presidents, and I couldn’t do it! I started with President Obama and worked backward: Obama, Bush, Clinton, Bush, Reagan, Ford, Nixon, Johnson, and Kennedy. I knew I was missing one president. I also knew this president was a former peanut farmer (thanks to my dad), but, for the life of me, I couldn’t recall President Carter’s name. I was, well, disappointed and determined to do better next year on Presidents’ Day!

Are you off today? If so, let me know what you’re up to!

Happily,
Diane

PS: Today is also Love Your Pet Day, which, to me, means an extra dose of love since we love our pets every day, right?

  1. We are in school today, but it was fun to teach my kinders about some of the presidents 🙂 We also made George Washington hats, so they are enjoying wearing those.

  2. As I painted my neighbor’s 2nd grade daughter’s nails yesterday, we discussed presidents. I was relieved that she didn’t ask me to name them…couldn’t have gotten 10 from either the first or the last in order!

Love Your Pet Day…This weekend and for the next few days I am the dogsitter for my co-teacher’s little yapper dog Flo and for my neighbor’s big Husky dog Beaufort. My spoiled Boston Terrier wasn’t too sure about two extra dogs in the house at first, but they found their rhythm and played pretty well. Any doubt that I’m a pet lover should be abolished. At night the two little dogs sleep on either side of me…spoiled, spoiled, spoiled.

We have school today! Happy Monday!

  3. We are off this week for mid wonter break. I spent the day with the President of my family, LOl, my wonderful Mom. I had great fun helping her arrrange her quilt blocks.

In honor of love your pet day I will take my energy filled dog for a longer than usual walk.

  4. We had school today as well, but I didn’t talk to my preschoolers about the Presidents. I would not have been able to recall the last ten presidents either.

For love your pet day, I will cuddle extra with my twin Siamese Cats tonight. 🙂

  5. The center I work at we were all in school today. Business as usual. Because is was a day set aside for our “Two Great Presidents” we helped the children make a 3D of Washington and Lincoln paste everything on a black background and glued a quater for George Washington and a penny for Abraham Lincoln. Next we glued this saying on it.

    Lincoln and Washington
    Lincoln and Washington
They are remembered on President Day.

  6. My 2’s were totally oblivious to President’s Day, and because I have a couple of teacher kid’s in my group I only had 2 friend’s come join me today. Now we are getting ready for conferances in March so I will be concentrating on finding out what my friend’s have absorbed in the last 6 months.
