Hallway Ninjas

Blog-NinjaGetting an entire class of kiddos to walk quietly in a school hallway is nearly impossible, especially at the start of the school year. I say nearly impossible because I’m pretty sure last week I witnessed a kindergarten class come exceptionally close to accomplishing this goal. The kiddos, following their teacher’s lead, were slightly crouched in stance as they tiptoed down the hallway ever so quietly. I must have uttered a “Wow” because the school receptionist offered this explanation. “They are in ninja mode.” Gotta love it! Now, just to be clear, these kiddos attend a year-round school, so they’ve been in school for three or four weeks. Even so, their hallway behavior was downright impressive!

How do you encourage your students to move though the school hallways in a quiet and orderly manner?

Eager to hear,

Diane

  1. I put a finger on my lips and keep my other arm at my side, just as I expect the students to do. Modeling what you want them to do makes things a lot easier. 🙂
