  6. Mondays usually feel like double days at school, and I have 3 outdoor recess duties every Monday. But today, here in Montana, the weather is beautiful, and going outside has been a treat!

  7. When I go to a Mailbox blog I am always hoping for an idea that I can use tomorrow. While many of your blogs are more random thoughts by your editors rather than a plethora of ideas, this give away is the perfect reason to continue checking out the blog! Happy Monday!

  8. Thanks! That did bring a bright spot in my Monday. They are always busy with so much to get the week started. A curveball or two will get thrown in.

  9. Mondays are the best because I have an extra 45 minutes of conference while my students are at Art!!!! WOOHOO!!!!!!!!

    Seize the day!

  12. I filled in for our preschool director today. I have a new appreciation for her! It was a beautiful Monday here in VA.

  13. My Monday is shortly coming to an end, this post did make my day better. As a soon to be teacher, that would defiantly be a useful resource for me in the classroom!

  14. I love Mondays. I teach reading and I am always eager to read with my students. I find that Thursdays are my long days I always have meetings on those days!

  15. My Monday went by pretty quickly today. We started out in my Kindergarten class with our usual calendar and weather activity. Then, since we are doing a unit on bugs and insects, we read the book The Very Clumsy Click Beetle by Eric Carle. The kids loved it! Next we had a Math lesson, then snack time, and then the library lady from our public library came to read a story about protecting the earth. Then she talked about the activities that are happening at the library the rest of this month. Soon it was lunch time, and since we have all-day Kindergarten, we have a rest time after lunch. After that we went outside to enjoy the sunshine, and after that we had computer class. After computer class we had to get ready to go home and that was our day! Tomorrow we will be making some large click beetles! Ta-ta from Illinois!

  16. Thanks for the Monday boost! I had such a wonderful weekend that coming back this time was a bit more difficult…but I definitely love seeing the kids and hearing their stories. As you can imagine they are more than happy to share….all day if given a chance!!!

  17. That is great news for any day of the week! I just finished using an Earth Day activity that was published in one of your books, and the kids loved it. Thanks for the great ideas!

  18. I don’t mind Mondays too much. Usually my students come in tired from the weekend, so we get off to a calm start. My class was excited for this Monday because we are doing a unit on countries of the world and we are traveling to Mexico. They made maracas to remember the country, and they loved it.

  19. Monday wasn’t too bad. I did have the kids asking why I wasn’t teaching (I’m a student teacher and this is my last week). So, maybe just a bit sad, but the kids do a great job of cheering me up :).

  20. I don’t really care for Mondays, but try to make the best of them. We started a unit on baby animals and decided to add us as babies with it. We will compare our baby pictures with now pictures and see if they can find the right match. I also added my baby picture in. The children loved it.

  21. I love Mondays! The students are ready to come back, they’re rested, and excited to share everything they did over the weekend.

  22. Monday’s are actually the best day of the week for our class. All the students come back sleepy from the weekend and usually don’t give us too many problems. Thanks for the post.

  23. Mondays are usually a hectic day for me but my students are usually on their best behavior and desire to be at school. Overall its a good reminder to focus on making it a “Happy Monday”!

  24. We love Mondays in our kindergarten. We have started calling them “Math Mondays.” Although we obviously do math activities all week, we take some time on Monday mornings to learn new math games, or to do a special math activity.

  25. I agree with “Claire”! Mondays are hectic! But I try to make them “Happy Mondays”. The children are usually tired but are happy to be at school.Thank Goodness! That’s usually half the battle!

  26. We call them Marvelous Mondays at my school. The kids come in eager and ready to learn. I come in refreshed from the weekend and ready to teach. All in all, they really are Marvelous Mondays.

  27. Monday afternoons seem long in my room because we don’t have specials like every other day of the week. Instead my 4th graders fill the time by reading and working with students in first grade. We call them their “buddies”. They have really enjoyed being a role model and building a relationship with them and the first graders get the same relationship and one more chance to work with someone one-on-one. It is a great experience for them all!

  28. I love to see all the creative ideas for making Mondays better! It doesn’t always have to be the rough start to a week!

  29. Thanks for all the ideas. I love finding new ways to keep Mondays from being the most dreaded day of the week.

  30. Hi Diane 🙂
Yea Monday! Or should it be a “Mailbox Monday?” Students are usually SO quiet on Monday mornings, but I’m always happy to see their smiling faces.

  31. Mondays……..are usually “fun days” for my class as usually over the weekend i have thought of some new rearranging ideas or some new craft ideas. The kids are usually excited to see what new fun or crazy thing i have thought of.
