First, I have a confession to make. I love checking out the magazines at the hair salon, especially the ones filled with the Hollywood scoop. Well, last night I was enjoying a favorite column in one such magazine. It’s called “25 Things You Don’t Know About Me.” Each month a different celebrity shares 25 things about himself or herself. It got me thinking that this could be a fun way to introduce yourself to parents. Of course you don’t have to include 25 things: 15, 12, or even 10 would be plenty. I started my list…

What an awesome idea!! I think I might use this idea since I am a new member to our school community. In regards to #5, could you still twirl the baton??
I love the idea. After 11 years of teaching at a coop preschool most of the Parents feel they know me very well. I think this would be a great way for the new families and the old to learn a bit more about me but also for me to learn more about them.
I too would love to know if you can still twirl the baton Diane???

This is a great idea! I’m adding it to my smartboard presentation that I do at kindergarten orientation.
This would be fun. The kids could then do it for themselves. It sounds like a great ice breaker activity or a fun item to put in a newsletter.

yeah, I have just done my introduction, found a picture of myself and printed out 13 things to know about me! fun and a real icebreaker! thanx
Great idea! Wish I had read it before I did my first newsletter of the year where I tell about myself and my family. I do however plan to use it next year!

Ruth I have heard of this in preK but have never done it personally. But I plan to use it as a ice breaker this year at the Parents only meeting in the small groups.
Diane thanks for answering the question. We may have lost some of our younger skills but at least all of us teachers still are young at heart.
I think I will have our staff do this at one of the faculty meetings this year. It will be a great way to connect with each other!

This is a GREAT idea. I teach 4 year olds. I will use this this year and also have the parents do it with their children for homework. Great bulletin board idea or feature a student of the week.
