This is such a fun time for the children and it encourages their love for books. The books come a live into their everyday world.
It is fun for all of us…
We love making Green eggs and Ham and counting Apples . We let the children bring items from home that relate to the books . Their own books or stuffed toys etc.
We encourage our Parents to spend a little extra reading time with their little ones and to enjoy the inspiration that Dr. Seuss brings into each of our lives…

Hope you all have a Fun Dr. Seuss week!! I know we will….

  6. I teach special education preschool for 4 year olds. Next week our theme will be Dr. Seuss! Our name tags for the week are on Cat in the Hat, Hat cut outs. We will be doing a letter matching activity with green egg and ham cut outs; uppercase and lowercase, playing green eggs and ham tic tac toe, making patterns on sentence strips with different colored fish, decorating birthday cake cut outs for Dr. Seuss, and reading Hop on Pop and practicing our positional terms with cat in the hat cut outs that students will place on, under, over, different items!

I love Dr. Seuss and I am very excited for the week!!

  7. We have our own version of Read Across America. We call it Read Across the Slope as we are members of the North Slope Borough in Alaska. The borough has a total area of 94,763 square miles. The borough is larger than 39 states, but only has about 8,000 residents.

Students K-8 will be celebrating by reading and tallying books to “travel” to all of the NSB’s arctic villages via a bulletin board. We also have a couple classroom partner activities planned in addition to some student/teacher challenges.

Of course, there will be some green eggs and ham and several writing activities as well. GO Readers!

  8. I love Dr Seuss, so we spend whole week on his books. Monday we read The Cat in the Hat and make hats. The children also draw a picture of what they would do on a rainy day. Tuesday we read The Foot Book, make foot prints and talk about what they can do with feet. Wednesday we read Green Eggs and Ham, make and eat green eggs and ham, make a graph and use puff paint, green pom poms and craft foam to make a picture of green eggs and ham. They also draw a picture of where they would eat green eggs and ham. Thursday we read Oh the Places You Will Go and draw pictures of where they would go. Friday we read One Fish, Two Fish and use fish both paper and edible to make patterns and draw and name a silly character. I send home ed and white strips of paper for the parents to write the names of Dr Seuss books they read to their children and bring in to make a big hat. We then count how many books are read and everyone votes for their favorite and make a graph. Everyone loves this week.

  9. I take round pretzels, green Chocolate melts and green M&M. I melt the green melts put it on the pretzel and put a green M&M on let it harden then you have green eggs and ham everyone loves these treats.

  10. We make green eggs and ham by filling a boiled egg white (deviled egg style) with egg yolk, green food coloring and ranch dressing that each child has squished together inside a baggie. Cut the tip off of one point of the baggie and squeeze like a frosting bag into the egg white. Top with a small chunk of Spam or deli ham and you have green eggs and ham that even small children can make themselves!

  11. We start today with Cat in the Hat day. We read the book, watch the movie and make Cat in the Hat hats.
Wednesday, Dr. Suess birthday-Wacky Wednesday! Dress wacky and read Wacky Wednesday. Thursday- Silly Sock Day. Read Fox in Sox and The Foot book.Friday is Green Eggs and Ham day. Wear green and make green eggs and ham. Also have the movie to watch.

  12. We are making Cat in the Hat hats – painting the red stripes. We are also trying to balance different objects like the Cat in the Hat does. And, of course reading lots of his books!
