Flying High!

Diane-Flight-BlogHappy spring, y’all. Well okay, spring isn’t here quite yet. But it does arrive today! At 6:45 PM EDT, to be exact. I guess you could say I succumbed to a case of pre-spring fever earlier this week. I took a vacation day and did something I never dreamed I’d do. I took a flight lesson. Yes sirree, I was in the pilot’s seat of a Cessna single-prop plane. (Do you know how small these planes are?) Of course, Wes, the young man who drew my straw, had his own set of controls. I taxied the plane down the runway using foot pedals (who knew!), I pulled back slowly on the yoke once we were off the ground, and I flew that plane! I even made turns. And for those of you who know me well, yes, I did squeal every time the plane took a big bounce! ( I have this tendency to yelp when things surprise me.) The whole experience lasted about an hour, and it’s an hour I’ll always remember.

I don’t aspire to become a pilot. Though, if I had the money…! I was fortunate to win a flight lesson at a charity event, and I followed through. I’m so glad I did. If you happen to succumb to a case of spring fever this season, what might you do?

Happily,

Diane
