First Quarter Recap

Congratulations to you! Not only have you’ve blazed through the first quarter of the school year, you’ve also taught your way through a week that was surely soaked in Halloween sugar! I’m totally impressed!

So how’s it going in your classroom? What’s your best memory of the first quarter? What has surprised you the most? Is there something your family from The Mailbox can help you with?

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Diane

PS Remember to roll your clocks back one hour this weekend! It’s a weekend with an extra hour—a big yippee! Enjoy!

  1. Good Morning,

We just completed our first quarter conferences. One of my favorite pieces to share with parents is the students’ self reflections on their Student Learning Plans. A couple weeks before the end of the quarter I have students reflect upon themselves as readers, writers, and mathematicians. It is obvious that the kids in our class are confident from their responses and over and over again, I’m charmed by the things they say about their favorite books, assignments, and/or activities. Parents also enjoy reading them.

  2. I am thrilled with my prek class. We are having a ball this year. Just watching this quarter of how they have changed since they walked through the door in September. Amazing to me.
I am watching their writing skills grow and the new language growth I have seen.

  3. Just got home from first quarter conferences – and things turned out better than I thought! I always dread the conference – parents don’t always understand you are just trying to give their child the best! But today was different – really really good – getting somewhere!! yippee!!!! The more I talked about the kids to their parents the more I was able to realize how far they have come! Was having trouble seeing the forest from the trees I guess! Glad it is over and now we can concentrate on more “playing”!

  4. I am amazed at how well this first”quater” is going. My daycare doesn’t operate on a quarterly basis, but we do units according to a monthly curriculum, and with 2’s it is a loosely based progaram.Because I am with the “old 2’s” I attach myself to some of the 3’s activities and my little one’s enjoy that time with the Big Kids.

  5. What a great quarter! My preschoolers are just awesome. With Halloween over and Thanksgiving coming up I am so greatful for MailBox magazines that I get. I am looking foward to working with my little ones.
