First Friday Giveaway

Could this Friday get any better? It’s the first Friday of June and it’s National Donut Day. Here’s something you may not know. (I sure didn’t!) National Donut Day began as a fundraiser for the Salvation Army in 1938. It’s celebrated annually on the first Friday of June and honors female volunteers who served donuts to soldiers behind the front lines during World War I.

So since it is National Donut Day and also is a giveaway day here at The Mailbox Blog, let’s pair the two together! To be entered in this month’s giveaway, tell us your favorite type of donut! That’s right; that’s all you need to do to be entered in this giveaway for a free book from The Mailbox! How’s that for a sweet deal?

Sure hope to hear from ya before midnight, Wednesday, June 12!

Maple bar for me!

Congratulations to Cindy! She’s the winner!

  1. I can’t narrow it down to one. I like the basic chocolate glazed but also apple crumb. Thanks for teaching me something I didn’t know. Donut Day!

  2. Any donut from dunkn’ donuts, there isn’t a dunkn’ donut 300 miles where I live so whenever I travel. I always find a dunk in’ donut. It reminds me of the special time I had with my uncle. Did I mention that dunkn’ donut as my favorite?

  3. I love jelly filled! and I love fresh, hot Krispy Kremes! Last day of school! What a perfect day to celebrate with a donut!

  4. I’ve always been an apple fritters type of man. However, I think I can be swayed to have a raspberry filled donut as well.

    Happy National Donut Day!

  5. I love chocolate and I love hot Krispy Kreme glazed…but today I would have to say Lemon filled! YUM! Takes me back to when I was a teenager! 🙂

  6. Cherry fritters? Yum! I’ve never tried one of these and I love cherry pie. I did pick up donuts on the way into work today and while I was standing in line I saw my first bacon maple bar. Honestly, it didn’t look all that appetizing to me. Though a couple of fellas in line smacked their lips over the delicacy, saying it was “deeeelicious.”

  7. My favorite donut was the ones my father use to make us (6 brothers and myself) as a treat. The good old cake donuts in which we got to put powder sugar on it and sometimes chocolate syrup. I keep the receipt and passed to my children and now the grandchildren.

  8. This is a tough choice! It depends where the donut is from, but I’ll stick with a classic chocolate covered glazed!
