  1. Yes! We have a Reading Night. All the teachers read a story. The parents and students are divided into groups (group A, B, C and so forth). They go to their first reader, then after a set time, a bell rings and they move to the next reader. They rotate around the school and get to hear (and some teacher act out the stories, so see) a bunch of fun stories! They get to dress up in their pajamas too! At the end, we serve milk and cookies and our PTO buys books and every child gets to bring home one book. It’s a fun night! 🙂

  2. We have a Literacy Night through our PTA. There are stations that are manned by teachers for hands-on learning. We also discuss how parents can help their child at home.

  3. We do a literacy night usually in November. Each classroom chooses a book and then children help to decorate the room to go along with the story. Each teacher chooses a small craft for the children to do with their parents, and then we share a snack. Each child receives a book from RIF. A fun time is had by all.

  4. Last year, we had parents dress up as book characters and go from class to class, reading to students. I’m sure we’ll do the same things this year. Lots of fun! 🙂

  5. Our school has family literacy night as well. We have board games, make a craft, a book fair, AR reading, and our most famous BINGO for Books. Family members play BINGO for books. The books are purchased from Scholastic through PTO funds. Each year is a theme. Last year was The Very Hungry CAterpillar. Our Title One teacher orders shirts for all staff members to wear with the theme on it. We also have a snack to go along with the theme. Last year we had apple cooies with a caterpillar coming out of it.
