Don’t Miss DEAR Day!

Drop Everything and Read Day is Thursday, April 12. Celebrating this special day is supereasy, because all you need is a book!

I’m planning to do some just-for-fun reading Thursday. What about you? Will your students and you be able to spend extra time reading or reading together on this day? Maybe, just maybe, you can squeeze in a bit of personal reading too! Personally, I’d love it if every day was a DEAR Day! 🙂

Let us know how you plan to celebrate!

Crazy about books!

  1. Yahoo! I am on board with this one!I have seen plenty of evidence over the years of how important reading to young ones creates eager learners later on.

  2. I definitely will be reading some extra stories and doing some art related projects. For my older prek kids we will be making a class book.

For myself I am always reading and will of course be reading then too.

    Enjoy all.

  3. We R2S, Read to Self, everyday, however we will make an extra effort to Drop Everything and Read. We will be reading with younger students as well as squeezing in some extra time to read our own good fit books.

  4. We’re having “Lunch with A Book Day” schoolwide. Students and teachers will sit in the grass around the school grounds on beach towels, blankets, and quilts. They will read to themselves and share books while they eat their picnic-style lunches.

  5. I’ll set the timer to go off several times throughout the day. When kids hear the timer, they Drop Everything, grab a book from the basket of books at their table group, find a comfy spot, And Read for 10 minutes.
