Do You Sing?

Do you sing with your students? That’s the question I asked teachers on The Mailbox® Preschool Facebook page. And I was happy to see so many of you responded with a big enthusiastic, “YES!” Singing helps build early language skills and increase brain development. Plus it’s just fun. And if you don’t sing, you’re missing out on a really helpful form of classroom management. Here are a couple of special songs for all you classroom singers! Why are they special? Because they give you a sneak peek at the great stuff you get with The Mailbox® Gold! Check out all the benefits of going Gold HERE.

The Ice Cream Truck

Once students learn this song, give youngsters jingle bell bracelets and encourage them to add accompaniment to the words, “jingle jingle.”

(sung to the tune of “She’ll Be Coming ‘Round the Mountain”)

Oh, the ice cream truck is coming down the street!
Oh, the ice cream truck is coming down the street!
Oh, it makes my skin just tingle
When I hear that jingle jingle.
Oh, the ice cream truck is coming down the street!

Boats on the Lake

Have students come up with motions for each verse of this simple song!

(sung to the tune of “The Mulberry Bush”)

The boats on the lake go fast and slow,
Fast and slow, fast and slow.
The boats on the lake go fast and slow,
That’s how they go!

Continue with:
The bobbers on the lake go up and down
The ducks on the lake go quack, quack, quack
The fish in the lake swim here and there
The kids in the lake go splash, splash, splash

  1. Yes, I sing. One of my bosses made a comment that ask Mrs Susan she has a song for everything. It’s thanks to Mailbox, my dad, the boys & girls scouts, my teachers, and listening to music that I’ve collected so many songs. Plus I love doing karaoke too!
