Do We Need This Day?

Today is National Social Media Day. It’s a day to celebrate how social media has redefined how we communicate and share information. Honestly, when I heard about today’s “non-holiday” I made a big ol’ snorting noise. (By the by…that’s a very disruptive noise to make in an office environment.) Why do we need a day to celebrate what we all spend too much time doing in the first place?

Now I could get all fired up about the quality of communication on social media…and the crazy “only 20% of my friends will read this” memes…and the totally false information that people believe is true because it’s on the Internet. But instead I think I’ll give you a couple of activities that celebrate what I consider to be the opposite of social media. 🙂 Enjoy!

It’s impossible to check social media and swing at the same time! Take a look at this adorable swinging song.

  1. I applaud the principal who is giving $100 from her own pocket to each of her studetns who refrain from any screen time on each Tuesday over the summer.

  2. I really love the writing book near the window. Some times if you have a reason to pay attention more you won;t believe what you see.
