Detour!

Not againDagnabbit, I did it again! I have a short drive to work each day, and I drive the same way every weekday morning. That is until last week, when a construction project closed a street along my morning route. This closure hasn’t been problematic for me on the drive home. There are bright orange cones, barrels, and flashing text that remind me to take an alternate route. My morning drive is another matter. Last week, I drove the wrong way four out of five times. Only when I found myself staring at the dreaded “Street Closed” sign did I remember the ongoing construction. Cue to the “dagnabbit” response. Today is Monday, and I did it again!

I like to think I still have most of my marbles, but clearly I’m not putting all of them to good use! So tell me about your morning commute. Do you sing, listen to the news, review what’s planned for the day, or say things like “dagnabbit”?

Happy Monday, y’all!

Diane

  1. I have a 20 minute walk to work. The worse thing that may happen is unexpected rain and I have no umbrella. Is that an elephant (big problem) or a mouse (little problem) or not a problem …..hum…. guess it depends on the person. Ida

  2. I have a 35 minute commute of mostly relaxing silence. About ten minutes before I get to my destination, I listen to music. Probably too loud. But then I’m ready for my day. Also, by then, I’ve said a lot worse stuff than dagnabbit that doesn’t belong in your blog. It’s all part of modern life. And then I head into work and forget about the commute for eight hours… Until it’s time to go home.

  3. I leave the house dressed this month in a Giraffe costume..hoping not to get stopped by the State Troopers. I have a beautiful drive down through the smoky mountains..and sometimes i get to witness sunrise. Today i could hardly see through my window screen for the torrential rain. But normally I put on my British music and think of family and friends faraway- intertwined with what lies ahead with my storytelling to pre k children… today the weather was so bad it was almost like being home in England.. now thats really something!

  4. I sang a little tune…the street I WANT to take to get to school…reopened!! Yeah! There is not as much traffic going this way. Our city has grown …especially with traffic…as the oil boom has grown. The alternate route is c-r-a-z-y !Hurray!!
