At this exact moment, I have an inquisitive giraffe staring at me. Okay, it’s a photo. And you’ll have to take my word that he’s giving me the eyeball. I’ve tacked the photo inside my cubicle, along with a chimpanzee poster that reads “THAT was due today?” Okay, now I’m starting to worry. I have a zebra in here with me too. It’s only at this moment that I’m realizing I have a zoo theme going on inside my work space. That’s sort of funny and scary at the same time!
What do you think your classroom decor says about you? How does your personality shine through the learning environment you create for your students?

I have a challenging situation in that I may teach the same kids for up to four years in a special ed. classroom. I try to give them a new experience each year so I rotate 4 different themes. Frogs, oceans, monkeys and I want to pick a new for next year. Yes, it’s a bit on the expensive side and more hassle to change out each year but it’s fun for my students to wonder what the classroom will be like when they come back. I think the biggest thing my room says about me is that I like things to be uniform. If I’m doing frogs…it’s ALL frogs. Any suggestions on a new theme for next year????

I have never thought about what the decor says about us. But you are right. In one room where it is more of a open play room I have monkeys and a coconut tree decorating the room. In the room where we do our work I have bees. I totally did it without thinking.
We have a zoo theme at school, so my room is a zoo and sometimes it feels like a real zoo! 🙂
My class room says that I enjoy the artistic side of the children in my care, and that I am serious about their educational needs.
My classroom is blue and yellow, ocean theme. Blue is peaceful, with a touch of yellow for energy.

What about owls, monsters, jungle, or sports, These are all themes that someone has in our school.
My room is COLORFUL! My kids and my parents know that I love colors and to let my kids be who they are-funny, quiet, thoughtful, shy but all learners.
