Best Books for Young Children

May 23 is Margaret Wise Brown’s birthday. I can say with confidence that we all know her best as the author of Goodnight Moon. It’s a classic story that will always be soothing for littles. Why? Because it deals with common objects and scenes from a young child’s world. It may drive us crazy reading it aloud, but Ms. Brown knew what she was doing. She was a firm believer that young children respond to stories about everyday life better than to ones that are more fantastical. Unfortunately, Ms. Brown left this world at the age of 42, but she lives on through her works for children.
