April Fools!

Okay. I really, really, really wanted to title this post “End-of-the-Month Giveaway Canceled!” And then, because it’s April 1, I planned to obnoxiously reveal, “April fools!” I restrained myself because I’m pretty sure you’ll get your fair share of April foolishness today without my silliness.

I’d love to know how your day goes. Did you plan a prank or two for your kiddos or your colleagues? Or maybe a child, colleague, or family member pranked you? Better yet, maybe you successfully ignored the silliness altogether! Let me know.

Have a horrible weekend! (April fools! 🙂 )

  1. I didn’t plan anything. However, my assistant explained to my kindergarten students all about April Fools Day
yesterday. All of them were bubbling over with April
    fools fun this morning!!

Have a horrible weekend too! [April Fools to you!]

  2. It was a horrible day (April Fools). We had fun by taking their chairs and working on the floor. Yopu should of seen the faces. Then the huge smiles as we were making worm farms.

  3. I have an April Fools free zone in my class. I teach the 10 commandments and what they are doing is lying. That is a sin. So no matter what, a lie is still a lie, even if its a fun trick. Can you tell I really don’t care for this day. Who came up with this anyway?

  4. I planned my April Fool’s Day joke on my Grade 1 classroom. At the end of the day, students are asked to put their shoes on top of their chairs before they go home. I switched all of their shoes so that when they arrived, they would have another student’s shoes on their chairs. When the students walked into class and noticed their shoes were not their, they were confused. They immediately began laughing as they noticed everyone else in the class had the same problem. They enjoyed searching for their shoes and liked the prank.

  5. Since we did not have school today( April 1) I was able to avoid the whole issue.
I usually do even when we have school.
THe most I ever get are some kindergarteners telling jokes because their families have said or done something for the day.
I may add something for next year.

  6. My morning message included:
Today, Justin Bieber will be coming
to our school to sing for all the kids.
This will be so fun! I can’t wait to see him!
My students sounded out and read the message.
    They thought it was funny.

  7. The primary teachers in my building (k-2) and I surprised the students by switching classes for the afternoon. We each had a fun activity or craft planned. It was an enjoyable afternoon and I got a sneak peek at what my class will be like next year!

  8. This is not one of my favorite school days. I tell my students first thing in the morning that if no one pulls an April Fool prank of me all day they will get a treat at the end of the day! Works every time!

  9. Ha! I told my students that the mayor of Minot had decided to add an extra day to March since there was so much snow left on the ground. I told them that he just didn’t think that April should begin with so much snow! I added a square to my calendar and wrote 3-32-11 for the date. It was hilarious to see their reaction! Very few did April Fool’s pranks as I told them they couldn’t do it until tomorrow. Some were worried that April would never arrive and were relieved when I told them it was an April Fool joke.) Unfortunately we could get 11 more inches of snow this weekend- and we all wish that was an April Fool!!)

  10. I have a booklet of riddles for the children to color, cut, put in number order, and staple. “What’s the best thing to put in a pie?” Your teeth!
One of the moms had her daughter in giggles all day; she put each of her 4 children’s lunches in one of the others’ backpack!

  11. Preschool students age 4 do not really understand the wole idea of April fools jokes ,however one of my parents sent in a batch of cookies for snack …on the top layer were pictures of chocolate chip cookies with a funny joke or April fools printed on the backunderneath a layer of foil the real cookies! ,The class got the joke then got to have these delicious cookies as a snack .It is great to have parents who love to participate! The class carries their “paper” cookie around asking everyone if they would like a cookie …then April fools it’s paper ! they had a ball!

  12. At lunch time I told my preschool class that after lunch they were going to get ice cream beause another teacher had served it to her class and had extras. I gave them mashed potatoes with sprinkles on it. I wish you could have seen their faces. It was so much fun to watch them. The rest of the day they kept saying “you tricked us.” And boy did I ever:-)

  13. We had a great day in our preschool class!! First, I asked all the kids to wear their clothes backwards or inside out or mismatched — whatever they thought would be funny (but I did tell them no underwear showing after one child asked). My assistant and I both wore our clothes backwards too. Then we went through our schedule backwards which meant Big Play first (of course a huge hit). We had snack on the floor, took pictures of the kids both facing forwards and backwards for a class book of “who am I,” and told silly knock knock jokes. Our theme for the week was mammals/not mammals, so we collaged animal bodies and heads cut from magazines to make some really weird April Fool’s mammals for our families. We had a wonderful April Fool’s day.
