By the looks of that title, it appears my keyboard has a mind of its own! Nope. Friggatriskaidekaphobia is a real word! Frigg is the Norse goddess of wisdom after whom Friday is named. (Tuck that away for a game of trivia or a crossword clue.) The Greek word triskaideka translates as 13. Tack on phobia (for fear), and you have a name for the fear of Friday the 13th. The fear of Friday the 13th is also called paraskevidekatriaphobia.
Today is the first Friday the 13th of 2016. For some, today is considered to be an unlucky day. Actually, very little is known about the origin of the day. If you were to ask Dr. Badden (that’s me—who, by the way, does not hold a doctorate degree), I would question how a Friday could possibly bring bad luck. I mean, next to Saturday and Sunday, Friday is my favorite day of the week.

I never pay any attention to it. The only reason I know its Friday the 13th is because I do the calendar with the kiddos
I do not think twice about Friday the 13th. I brought it up to my Kindergarten students by saying it is Friday the 13th of May. IfThey had heard of it they would have reacted.
