A sincere compliment is like a dose of verbal sunshine. These aren’t my words, but I sure like them! I began this blog with the mistaken idea that today is Compliment Day. It’s not, but what the hey! Every day is a great day to share and receive compliments!
It must be said that not all compliments are alike. There are the forced ones (Wow! Nice hat!); the funny ones (I’m so glad you bought those shoes!); the general ones (Good job!); and the heartfelt and sunny ones (Your words of encouragement mean so much to my son!).
What’s a heartfelt and sunny compliment you’ve recently received or shared?
Spread the sunshine!
Diane
Given: “I get to brag on your son today, he is very good at including () our special needs student in his play time. Received:”We can see how much you are working with our child.”
I love it when Parents tell me how much their child loves me and copies me.
My favorite compliments are from the kids. While it’s wonderful to hear great things from other adults, the ones that pull on my heart strings come from the kiddos. “This is the best math ever” “thanks for being fun” “I love coming to your room”. As a special education teacher, it makes my day when I poke my head into a classroom and my students jump up and say “yes!” because they’re excited to come with me. 🙂
“This [parents and tots] group has grown so much under your leadership. It was nothing, and now it’s huge.”
In the spirit of verbal sunshine, I can’t say enough good things about Mailbox magazine. The ideas I’ve found in it have inspired me time and time again, and I know I’m a better teacher because of it. Some of my favourite days are those when a new edition arrives in my mailbox. Thank you!
Chelsea, thanks for your kind (and sunny!) words.
