Three cheers for October! Cheer one is for the signs of autumn—my favorite season, I might add! Cheer two is for the onslaught of holidays and festivities that are right around the corner. (Take a deep breath; there’s still plenty of time.) And, most importantly, cheer three is for the freebies, contests, and goodies I have for you today!

Let’s get the celebration started! Submit a comment to the blog by 11:59 pm EDT Sunday, October 18, 2015, to tell me what are your favorites when you click on the contest and freebies below. From the comments, I’ll randomly select a teacher to win three books that are perfect for Halloween! Gilbert is a ghost that doesn’t want to haunt and is always polite in Gilbert the Ghost. Then scare up some reading fun with Peanut Butter & Jelly Brains. This zombie craves—you guessed it—PB and J! In Día de los Muertos, share the story of the Day of the Dead—a Latin American holiday that includes sweets, tamales, and costumes. (Update: congratulations to Elizabeth, who is the winner of our prize.)

The panel with Kate DiCamillo sounds great. Too bad we are out of school that day.
Heidi, I’m sure they’ll offer an archived version to listen to later. Go ahead and sign up so you get that recording. Oh, and enjoy your day off!
I am excited to participate in the virtual discussion with Kate DiCamillo. She is a favorite author of many of my students.
I hope they do offer a recording of Kate DiCamillo, I also like the Pal Poetry. My students are always talking about their pets.
I know my favorite this month is Peanut butter and Jelly Brains-
I am always trying to get my students/parents to purchase books that provide a lifetime of laughter this book looks like a fun family read. I also think the link to the book will look great on my smart board for open house. Love the illustrations.
My favorite is Gilbert the Ghost and takes me back to my childhood watching Casper the Friendly Ghost.
U promise I entered would love the books they sound very cool.
I love Peanut Butter and Jelly Brain. My class just finished writing How to Make a Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich!
Bet they had fun with that, Fran. And no doubt parents loved it!
I’m torn between Peanut Butter & Brains and Gilbert the Ghost for my young students. Dia De Los Muertos would be great for the older students in my school, though.
I love books for any grade level!!! I have typed up book lists for my co-workers, sorting books according to theme and/or learning activity.
I like the sound of the Kate DiCamillo panel. I hope to put that into our day.
I LOVE all of the Mercy Watson books!
These look awesome! My students would love all of these. I’d love Dia de los Muertos especially!
I like the Office Max gift card for the school. I know that this would really go far for the teachers! I think my 8 year old would like the peanut butter & jelly brains, it look cute. Thanks for the giveaway.
Mercy Watson is awesome!
I like the Office Max gift card give away. We no longer get any money to buy supplies for our classrooms because of budget cuts in our district. This would help buy needed classroom supplies.
Peanut Butter and Jelly Brains = boy ain’t that the truth!
