Several weeks ago, I first reached out to the Upper Grades Exchange readership with a question about your students’ sleep patterns. Specifically, do you think your students are getting enough sleep? Do you have students who arrive at your classroom door in the morning consistently looking like they are sleep deprived?
Let’s face it: many of us teachers will readily admit that we could not function without a healthy dose of morning caffeine and/or sugar. Whether it’s coffee, tea, or cola, we need something that will propel us forward. However, students do not necessarily have the same luxury. I knew plenty of children who arrived in my classroom without an ounce of energy, their faces hanging like Droopy Dog’s.
How does it look from where you stand? Are there Droopy Dogs in your class?
