Promote Kindness to Animals

The greatness of a nation can be judged by the way its animals are treated. – Mahatma Gandhi

April is Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Month! The cats in the photo are my two furry boys, Ralph and Rufus. I adopted them almost a year ago from a center that takes social kittens and adult cats from feral colonies and finds loving homes for them. I adore my boys and have difficulty understanding people who treat animals badly. It’s important to promote love and caring of all creatures from the very beginning. So to spotlight Prevention of Cruelty to Animals month, here are some ideas to encourage children to show kindness to creatures.

Set up a pet adoption clinic or veterinarian dramatic play area and use these sassy mini-posters as decorations! We’ve provided them in black and white as well so they can be used as coloring pages.

needs of pets.

  1. Thank you for these projects! I am always looking for fun ways to teach my students to be responsible caregivers of animals. These posters and cards will surely help. I borrow the book “Hey Little Ant” from the library once a year to read to my kids; it’s a hilarious book that helps readers view life from another perspective.
