When is the last time you ate a glam yam or a berry bird? I had them both yesterday and squeezed in a few words about nutrition to my daughters as they created and then devoured these works of healthy food art. Fun learning? We can’t get enough!
Post a comment to this blog no later than 11:59 pm EDT on July 17, 2016, to tell me which of the items below would help you in your classroom. From the comments, I’ll randomly select one teacher to win a new book packed with the how-tos of more than 150 works of nutritious plate art, Funny Food Made Easy. (Update: congratulations to Michelle, who is the winner of our prize.)

Look at what else I’ve cooked up—a tool for improved reading comprehension. Close Reading Clips help grades K–6 students analyze, understand, and respond to text by marking important segments. These clips won a 2016 Teachers’ Choice Award (TCA) for the Classroom, so you know other teachers have tried them and loved them! Check them out here.

How is the transition to digital learning going in your school? With the right content (over 360,000 digital resources for all K–12 curriculum areas), instruction, engagement, and delivery, icurio helps you use digital resources to meet instructional objectives. This learning engagement system is also a TCA for the Classroom recipient, winning the praises of classroom teachers who tested it. Click here to learn more.

Here’s one more fun—and educational—project: adorable rock pets. (My favorite is the one with the blue and purple hair—it kinda looks how I feel some mornings!) The educational part? They’re tied to learning about rocks, minerals, and fossils. Check out the free lesson plans. While you’re at it, make sure you’ve entered for your chance to win a prize pack of Elmer’s goodies. You have three more chances to win. Click here.

I love the pet rocks and the reading clips! 🙂
I like the Close Reading Clips, they look amazing! I do think several sets would be necessary for the classroom so the children could work in groups. It might be a good project to put on Donors Choose.
Reading comprehension tool would be very helpful.
The pet rocks would be a fun back to school project! Then the kids could write about their new “pet.”
I would love to use the reading clips in my classroom. I also think the rocks would be fun to use.
