I’m thinking most teachers would graciously decline an offer to eat lunch on a school bus. However, what if the bus had a gigantic mermaid on the side? Are you still not sure? Okay, how about if you’re dining with author Jan Brett? That’s what I thought!
Jan Brett and her giant mermaid bus are heading out on a promotional tour this coming November. She’ll be visiting 23 different cities across the United States to share her latest book, The Mermaid, which is a “striking under-the-sea version of Cinderella.”
Right now Jan Brett is inviting readers to enter for a chance to win lunch on the bus. One lucky winner will be randomly selected. The prize also includes lunch for three of the winner’s friends. In addition, 99 entrants will each receive a Mermaid poster.
For a good-luck charm, first tell us your favorite Jan Brett book.
Then click here to enter!
Have a great weekend!

Who’s that Knocking on Christmas Eve?
My favorite Jan Brett book is The Mitten. A great winter writing project that I did with my 2nd Graders was where we read and compared Jan Brett’s and Alvin Tresselt’s versions of The Mitten. Then, my students wrote their own version of the story, with their choice of animals and the appropriate animal movements into the mitten. We called it “The Mitten Rewritten!” ????
Gingerbread Baby
The Gingerbread Bqby!!!!

The Mitten was my 1st favorite! But I really do love all of them………the illustrations just draw me in!!!
On a trip to Barnes & Noble on Saturday, October 28, I purchased a copy of “The Mermaid” to give to our four-year-old granddaughter Kaylynn for Christmas! It is a beautiful book that Kaylynn will adore! I’m so excited to present the gift that I almost want Christmas to come quickly!
