Lanterns and Rats?

So, when is it reasonable to use the words lanterns and rats in the same sentence? When you’re talkin’ about Chinese New Year 2020, that’s when! This year Chinese New Year begins January 25th. The holiday is based on the Lunar calendar, which means the dates change from year to year. On a Lunar calendar, Chinese New Year begins January 1st. It continues for 15 days until the first full moon. A Lantern Festival concludes the festivities. It is customary to decorate with red during Chinese New Year, because the color symbolizes good luck. Now about those rats! The Chinese zodiac assigns an animal and its believed traits to each year in a repeating 12-year cycle. 2020 is the year of the rat. If your zodiac animal is a rat (this would mean you were born in one of the following years: 2008, 1996, 1984, 1972, 1960, 1948, 1936) you are smart, wealthy, successful, and popular. You are also curious and thoughtful, and quite tidy. Oh, and you may be a bit stubborn!
