Once Upon a Goat (Knopf) is a book that has it all—a cluess king and queen, a flaky fairy godmother, a misplaced royal baby, a goat with a goatee, and, ultimately a nontraditional but very happy family. And here’s the best part: you can win the book!
One thing that the goat in the story doesn’t have is a name. So, to enter our random drawing this week, submit a comment to this blog and suggest a good goat name by Thursday, November 21. One lucky teacher will win! Congratulations to our lucky winner Laura Mulligan!
Here are some fun freebies that “ewe” won’t want to miss (yes, I know I’ve switched to sheep, forgive me…):
It’s time to Read for the Record! Tomorrow, November 7, classrooms around the country will read the book Thank You, Omu! Watch a video of the book being read, download free activities, and join the Jumpstart Read for the Record challenge to be a part of the world’s largest shared reading experience (and to help spread the word about the importance of early literacy). Click here.
It’s time to talk STEAM. Register for next week’s STEAM Week Twitter chat from STEAM Universe and you could win a $1,000 grant. Get the details here.
Are you preparing your students to live in a diverse society, where they can achieve academically and also work collaboratively to stand up to injustice? If that’s you, then you’ll want to know more about the Teaching Tolerance Award for Excellence in Teaching. Click here to get the details; applications are due December 8.
Don’t forget to send those suggested goat names to enter this week’s contest. Your kids (the human kind—and maybe the goat kind too) will love this book!
