“Jelly Bean” and “Pearl” could be characters from a children’s book. They aren’t. They both have horns, steering wheels, tires, and, well—you get my drift. They’re car nicknames. “The Gray Goose” and “Big Blue” fall into this category as well. A few years back my friend, Becky, nicknamed her 2000 Dodge Caravan “The Swagga Wagon.” Her then teenage daughters, who were mortified to be seen in the van, nicknamed it “Social Suicide.” :+) Kim, my blogger bud, shared the story of a high school friend who nicknamed her car “Baby” because she spent half her time saying, “C’mon Baby….C’mon Baby…” :+)
With the official start of summer just three days away, I guess I have cars on my very fried brain. Right now I’m dreamin’ about hitting the highway in the Mercedes Benz pictured. In my fantastical dream I’m safely strapped inside “Bullet” and steering her at an ever-so-slightly accelerated speed toward the salty breezes of the North Carolina coastline. Ah…
Well, enough about me. I have questions for you!
Have you given a current or past car a nickname?
Do you have a dream car?
Will you be hitting the highway this weekend or summer?
Feel free to answer one, two, or all three of my questions. I sure hope to hear from you!
The dreamer,
Diane
My “dream car” was the Mercury Mariner I had 4 years ago. However, it had problems & the repairs were too much. It was actually cheaper to get a new vehicle. But I miss the Mariner sooo much! It was my favorite vehicle. I’d give anything to have it back.
(P.S. I never had a nickname for it or for any of my vehicles.)
I named my last car Ruby. But my latest is named Noman yes. Noman. This is the first car I ever bought without my dad or husband with me. This Noman.
I would love a mini
Cooper.
I am planning to drive to Fla this year with a friend from high school to visit our other high school friend. On the way back we are planning to
Stop off at a variety of places along 75. And all
The while we are gone we are going to play the music we loved in high school
My dream car is a Jaguar. My husband just bought a Jaguar for our anniversary last week.
We call it our out on the town car.
My dream car is a Mustang convertible . My current car is a Mitsubishi Lancer. I love Elvis therefore because my car is black so her name is Santini Elvis ‘ nickname for Priscilla.
My first car was a 5 speed 1978 Honda Civic Hatchback. It was silver with a huge black scorpion on the front hood of it. I bought it for $450.00 in 1986. I named her “Myrtle” and she was such a fun car to drive.
I’ve had 2 Honda Elements, named the ugliest cars ever made, that I loved and still do. They were named “Ellie 1” and now “Ellie 2” or “Newf Box” because my newfoundland Bentley loves to go for rides and he has plenty of room.
My dream car? A silver Mercedes Benz convertible with a dark blue drop top and dark blue interior. Not on a teacher salary that’s for sure!
My Dad drove a 1950 panel truck he called “Ol Betsy” . I dreamed of owning a Mustang since they first appeared in 1964. I finally bought a new one after saving for a long time. I drive a 2010 Mustang convertible that I call “Mustang Sally” after the Wilson Pickett song.
My first car was an orange Doge Charger. I loved it. I didn’t have a nickname for it but my Grandma always called it General Lee, like the Dukes of Hazzard TV show.
