Here’s a book that helps make math more meaningful for all ages. Math Is a Verb: Activities and Lessons From Cultures Around the World shows how math can be more than an exercise on a worksheet by exploring world cultures. Teach about patterns with embroidery from Bulgaria, show how students in Guatemala use math to increase corn harvests, and play a German game for a fun application of probability analysis. All the examples are linked to Common Core objectives. Click here to check it out!

  1. I love the “Math is a Verb” and Discovery Science, but I would love to win the books about baseball and basketball. I try to incorporate movement, sports, and their history into my teaching regimen.

  2. Math has never been an easy subject for me. I like the book Math is Verb. It has brought new interest to an subject that I have often become frustrated with. Thanks for sharing a wonderful concept of math.
