Happy Friday everyone! You know how we teachers often invite our students to share summer highlights? Well today I’m going to turn the tables on y’all and ask you to share your favorite moments of summer. How about that? It will be fun to hear what y’all have been up to. And who knows, I (or you!) might discover a resource for a future teaching topic or theme.
Also, if you haven’t yet taken the Back-to-School Quiz, you’ll want to do that before Monday, August 15. We’ve had such a great response that we’ll be giving a surprise to two lucky quiz takers! Eager to hear from ya! |
PS In case you’re wondering, I did not go skydiving this summer. I would like to try a zip line though!
Zip lines are so fun! I used to work a ropes course for YMCA Camp Cullen in Texas and I got to be the one that sent people down from the top platform. It was such a fun job.
I moved this summer. It took almost all of our summer, but we did it. My son broke his arm, too.
Sheryl – I hope your son’s arm is healing nicely – It so helped to read your email because I am a little nervous about heading back to school – usually I have a ton of great things to share with my kids but this summer has been hard – my hubbie kicked it off by having a heart attack, and we spent most of the summer putting our house back together because we were flooded this spring – I usually love getting back to school but this year I am a little worried about having enough “in the well” so to speak. But I am looking forward to getting back to the routine and getting my classroom back in order!!! Don’t know why getting ready to go back is my favorite time of the year!! I am nuts!!
This Summer I just read books! Yay! But last Summer I zip lined at a Christian camp in Austin, Texas. It was amazing! 🙂
I read lots of books: new children’s books, The Runaway Quilt, 127 Hours, more novels, some trade books. I camped a few times, went to grandkids’ soccer and baseball games. Tried to sort paperwork – mostly worksheets; I’m terrible at organizing those things!
Kudos to you zip-liners!
Praying for health in Sheryl’s home.
Summer seemed so long — yet so short — at the same time. Strange! 😉
I had double wrist injections in June to end my carpal tunnel. The injections didn’t work. I then had surgery on my left wrist and will probably have the right wrist done at winter break.
Attended the Texas Early Childhood Leadership Summit in July. Met lots of great people & learned so much. I’m excited to implement new activities and ideas into my classroom.
Got to travel home to Missouri. It was even more beautiful than I remember it. Everything was so green & bright. Spent time with my nephew who will be starting kindergarten next week.
Hope that everyone had a great summer break. And I hope that you have an awesome school year! 🙂
This summer I work at the Head Start I work at with kids we have a summer program and we took that kids on lots on field trips and we also took them to different parks and swimming. The kids and all us teachers had a fun summer.
Parts of our city evacuated twice. This all started the Tuesday after Memorial Day. The 2nd time ended with a horrific flood. 12,000 people evacuated. 4100 homes flooded. 3 main schools damaged-some beyond repair. Other schools with damage from flood water or sewer backup. My summer was filled with packing and moving and gutting, cleaning and now rebuilding.
For the first time ever-we start school after Labor Day. We are scheduled to Start on Sept. 6 with kids. Teachers will start on Aug. 30 and will be assigned to a “flooded school” to help them set up in an alternate location.
I look forward to getting back to school-to some normalacy and look even more forward to going back home—maybe in 6 months or so.
Lots of books, gardening and driving lessons for my almost 16 year old! (Many of those driving lessons somehow ended up at the ice cream parlor!)
I enjoyed my stay at home vacaation. I read and read some more. It was very nice for a change.
And of course spent some time (never enough) getting ready for September.
I always thought ziplining looks like so much fun.
This summer my husband and I went to Niagara Falls(breath-taking) for our 40th wedding anniversary. The last few years we have been going to some of America’s most beautiful places. We gone to Yellowstone(awesome) and The Alamo(inspiring) and next we’d like to see the Grand Canyon.
This summer I took a long road trip with my family. We had tons of fun especially when we stopped for dinner and were very tired and giddy and laughed the entire meal! Took a lot of crazy pictures in the restaurant and the waitress probably thought we were escaped mental patients!
Swimming and relaxing! Took a trip to see family over the 4th of July.
